Agent patterns

Exception Investigation Agent

Exceptions arrive continuously in volume, each needs a different sequence of checks, and the useful evidence is spread across prior resolutions, source files and free-text correspondence. Rules cannot anticipate the sequence and a person repeats the same lookups hundreds of times a week.

Human review point

The proposed resolution and its category. Read-only tools run freely; any write — a write-off, a correcting entry — requires an approver who is not the agent.

Must not do

Post an entry, close an exception, or widen a tolerance. An agent that resolves autonomously breaks segregation of duties, because no accountable person authorised the specific action.

Inputs

Exception record; prior resolutions for the account and counterparty; source files; anomaly score; attached correspondence

Output artefact

Proposed resolution with category, supporting evidence and a step-by-step reasoning trail
